There is only one God -Allah

Tawheed, or the absolute Oneness of Allah, forms the very core of Islam and stands as one of its fundamental pillars of belief. The most widely recognized declaration of this Oneness is found in the phrase “Laa ilaaha illallaah.” This statement consists of four words, often rendered in English as “There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah.” It affirms that nothing in existence merits devotion or worship apart from Allah alone. When this testimony is coupled with the declaration “Muhammadur-Rasoolullaah” (Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah), it formally brings a person into the community of Islam.

According to the Qur’an, the Oneness of Allah encompasses three dimensions: He is One in His Essence, One in His Attributes, and One in His Deeds. His uniqueness in action signifies that no being—past, present, or future—can replicate what Allah has done or may choose to do.

This profound principle of Tawheed is exquisitely encapsulated in Surah Al-Ikhlas, one of the shortest yet earliest revelations in the Qur’an.

Allah is the sole Divine Being. He is the Creator of all things—human beings, angels, jinn, the heavens, the earth, animals, plants, fruits, and every other entity in existence. Nothing resembles Him in any way, and no one shares in His sovereignty or power.

Among all creation, human beings hold the highest rank. Both humans and jinn were brought into existence for the purpose of worshipping Him. He is the Originator of all things, the Sustainer who provides for the entire universe, and the Nourisher of all life. He grants guidance, infuses meaning into existence, and bestows life upon everything. He is the Light of the heavens and the earth, and He guides whomever He wills toward His radiant truth.

Allah is the Sovereign Lord and Master of all that exists—the Rabb of the worlds. Therefore, worship must be directed exclusively to Him as our Lord. We are to obey Him wholeheartedly. Since He alone provides for us and is our sole Protector, we must turn to Him alone for aid and support. Above all, He alone deserves endless praise and gratitude for the countless blessings He has bestowed upon us—blessings that surround us at every moment. Just as an infant instinctively seeks comfort and sustenance from its mother, so too should human beings turn earnestly to their Lord and Sustainer for protection, provision, and mercy.

Throughout history, Allah sent numerous prophets to guide humanity—teaching them righteousness and warning them against evil. The final and seal of all messengers is Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). To His prophets, Allah revealed divine scriptures, and to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), He revealed the Qur’an—His last and eternal Book, containing His final revelation to humankind. It is incumbent upon us to adhere to the message of the Qur’an and to follow the teachings and example of the Prophet (ﷺ).
