Allah’s Books and Messengers.

Allah sent Prophets and Messengers to guide humanity.
He conveyed His guidance to us through these Prophets, and this divine guidance is known as wahi. The English term for wahi is “revelation,” which means the act of making something known. Revelation (wahi) is a gift from Allah to humankind.

Who delivered this wahi to the Prophets? It was Angel Jibreel (peace be upon him) who brought the revelation to Allah’s Prophets. These revelations were messages from Allah, later compiled into sacred books.

The Qur’an mentions these revealed books:

  • The Suhuf were revealed to Prophet Ibraaheem (peace be upon him),
  • The Zaboor was given to Prophet Dawood (peace be upon him),
  • The Tawrah was revealed to Prophet Musa (peace be upon him),
  • The Injeel was sent down to Prophet ‘Eesa (peace be upon him),
  • And the Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

All these divine books shared the same core message: Tawheed—the oneness of Allah—expressed in the declaration: “Laa ilaaha illallaah” (There is no god but Allah).

What became of these earlier scriptures?
With the exception of the Qur’an, all the other revealed books were either lost or altered by people over time. Today, their original texts no longer exist in their pristine form. Nevertheless, we firmly believe that these Books were indeed revealed by Allah.

Now, the only scripture that remains in its original, unaltered state is the Qur’an. Its words are exactly as they were when first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah has taken it upon Himself to preserve the Qur’an in its original form. Belief in the Qur’an is an essential part of our f

Allah does not reveal His will to human beings directly, nor does He address each individual separately to instruct them on what to do or what to avoid.

Instead, Allah’s chosen method of communicating His will to humanity is through His Prophets and Messengers. He selects certain individuals to receive His divine message, and those who receive it become His Prophets.

Allah conveys this message to the Prophets through Angel Jibreel (peace be upon him). The Prophets, in turn, deliver this message to their people. Throughout history, Allah sent Prophets and Messengers to various nations at different times. They spoke on behalf of Allah and guided humanity according to His command.

All the Prophets and Messengers of Allah were human men—chosen for their nobility and righteousness.

The first Prophet was Adam (peace be upon him), and the final Prophet was Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Among the other Prophets are:

  1. Nuh
  2. Ibraaheem
  3. Ishaaq
  4. Ya‘qub
  5. Yusuf
  6. Musa
  7. Haroon
  8. Yunus
  9. Yahya
  10. ‘Eesa

(All of them are peace be upon them.)
